As I am from an Indian family where children learn to survive with their parent's income , working part time was an extremely novel experience for me . I had no past experience of even offering an helping hand in the kitchen or any of the house hold chores. My role as an offspring till i left home was to be a couch potato, and to fulfill my gustatory appetite.
So when i had a chance of working as a part timer , i was quite excited about my new JOB. I eagerly attended the orientations and other preparatory courses offered by Mc Donald's. So once my shifts commenced , i began to realise that i was no match for the other employees there. My work involved a lot of weight lifts and other physical though i was always engaged in customer service . I am not complaining about the job load but about the potentials of Indian kids who never are given a chance to work as part timers. I was always spellbound when the kids (most of the employees were way younger than me ) did these jobs they never cared or they never even twitched their faces as i did because jobs like mopping , changing bins and few others were not for people who had a quite an educational qualification in India. But soon I realised that it was not unconventional in western countries and all jobs were respected alike .
The best part about the job , I must confess , is that i learnt how to act quickly to situations , how to be friendly with people without any prejudice and how to earn money for myself $$$$$$$
